BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT

The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Dianthus , botanically known as Dianthus x allwoodii hort. and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEDG24627’. ‘KLEDG24627’ originated from a whole plant mutation discovered in 2018 in Stuttgart, Germany from the Dianthus female parent ‘KLEDG12163’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 24,707).

In June 2020, ‘KLEDG24627’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative stem cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany. ‘KLEDG24627’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation in Stuttgart, Germany via vegetative cuttings.

This new Dianthus plant is illustrated by the accompanying photograph of a 7-month-old plant taken in May 2024 and grown in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany.
