Genus and species: Dianthus x caryophyllus L. hort.
Variety denomination: ‘KLEDP23527’.
BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT
The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Dianthus , botanically known as Dianthus x caryophyllus L. hort. and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEDP23527’. ‘KLEDP23527’ originated from a whole plant mutation in a group of Dianthus ‘DCP-2016-Sissy02’ (unpatented) plants and discovered in a trial conducted between December 2017 and January 2018 in Stuttgart, Germany.
In June 2018 ‘KLEDP23527’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative stem cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany. ‘KLEDP23527’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation in Stuttgart, Germany via vegetative cuttings.
SUMMARY
The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of ‘KLEDP23527’ when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.
•
• 1. Pink flowers that transition from dark pink to light pink with age of the flowers; and • 2. A medium-sized, semi-upright, double flower.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS
This new Dianthus plant is illustrated by the accompanying photographs. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures.
FIG. 1 is a photograph showing a whole plant of ‘KLEDP23527’ at 13-weeks old in March 2023 in Stuttgart, Germany and shows the foliage, buds, and flowers.
FIG. 2 shows a comparison of a young flower of ‘KLEDP23527’ with a dark pink color next to an older flower with a light pink color.
DESCRIPTION
The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLEDP23527’. The data which define these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Stuttgart, Germany. Data was collected in April 2025 from a plant that had been potted in week 37 of 2024 and grown in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany. Color references are to The R.H.S.
